It took me a while to finish this book but it was one of those rare reads that holds your intrigue and attention no matter how long it takes you to get through it. The characters were probably my favourite part of the book...all of them were so multi-faceted and so well fleshed out, even if they were only minor characters we met for one or two pages. For someone who doesn’t read a lot of historical fiction I was a little cautious going into this book-unsure if I would like it, but it is without a doubt a five star read and I would recommend this to literally anyone who enjoys historical fiction, mystery, action or just a well written book with an intricate and intriguing plot spurred by some of the most complex and realistic characters in modern literature.
