A poignant, eerie beginning

The intrigue is set in the first few pages. The introduction to the main characters is steady but restrained. Done in retrospect, crumbs of what is to come litter the detailed setting of the seaside town. The cover and title seem at odds with the ominous tone set in the first chapters. There is a warning that all is not well which entices the reader to continue. The mystery of the lights and the need to know more about the main characters and their situations is compelling and I need to read on.
