From the title alone, Rachel Donohue's 'The Beauty of Impossible Things' grabbed my attention, such poetry in the name that connotes a range of emotions in the reader before they even open the book. I was introduced to Donohue's writing with her exquisite, and equally well named, The Temple of House Vanishing, and this book looks to be as good, if not better. The book's cover is simple yet eye-catching, and the preface of a mysterious story in an ancient and decrepit house by the sea is always a winner for me. The protagonist and her mother sound like really interesting characters, and the author's prose is to be congratulated. I'd love a copy to read the full novel as I think it will be another wonderful story from Donohue.
