This is a gripping gothic story which focuses on a summer thirty years ago. I was drawn to the main character Natasha from the very start who continues to want to know more about her path and meaning through the story. the beginning of the book hooks you in from the begging by telling us that something happened in the summer of her 15th birthday however it is slowly revealed as you read further. The writing style is easy to follow and the use of language emphasises the eeriness of the book. The descriptive language through the book bring the visions to life and help create beautiful images in your mind .It is an interesting to read the contrasting of Natasha around her mother to Marcus and even when alone. I also loved the contrasting of the characters form Natasha who comes across as a lost soul wanting to find her purpose compared to her beautiful mother who paints and seems distant from the town, Marcus he best friend who seems to blend in with the town and fits in .The continued urge to know what the lights are and what they could mean kept me wanting more.
