Its surreal and feels like it is set in another world or outside of our reality. This is added to by the slighty unatural dialogue. The town is unnamed adding a sense of mystery and setting this novel apart from others. The relationship between Natasha and her mother is extremely interesting and very poetic. Its a unique relationship to say the least. The novel is slow paced and ineteresting as it builds up atomosphere and tension. However it is hard to engage with and isnt a gripping sort of tale its more slow and steady. It has a dream like state and is nostalgic and bohemiam.
