Interesting, but bland.

From the little that I know from the cover, blurb and description, I'm undoubtedly looking forward to reading this book. Although, I am worried that it won't live up to my expectations of a gastby-like haunting and fantastical novel set in a seaside town.

The book cover is stunning and that definitely helps, but I struggled to work out exactly what novel is about from the provided blurb. I'm itching to know, as it hints at a variety of different genres and possible plot lines that I'm excited to read the book despite knowing almost nothing about it.

It is interesting to have an adult book that has the voice of a teenage girl, and I wonder whether we will have a biased narrator on our hands- either way, I'm looking forward to it.

Donohue's first book, The Temple House Vanishing, was completely full of beautifully well-written prose which is clearly a strong asset of Donohue's, so I'm excited to see her apply her writing to a different genre.
