I enjoyed reading the opening chapters of this book, and was left feeling keen to read on further.

I like the way the story starts off looking backwards towards the time around Natasha's 15th birthday. It makes you wonder what events are in store in the chapters ahead that lead to Natasha seeing a therapist.

Living in a seaside area myself I thought the description of the small seaside town was realistic, as was the imagery of the cottage on the cliffs above the town, where Natasha and her mother lived.

Natasha and her mother are intriguing characters, both have an element of darkness and mystery about them. I found the descriptions of Natasha's psychic experiences particularly compelling, as was the section where Natasha was trying to explain to Marcus how it had felt when she was on The Ridge watching the unexplained lights in the sky.
