This tells the tale of a long, terrible summer thirty years ago in a seaside town when Natasha Rothwell, our narrator, is fifteen. Natasha has precognition, premonitions, and a "gift" that has plagued her life since she was a teenager. She shares a huge house on the cliff tops with her mother, the stunning bohemian Elizabeth, in fugal, fading grandeur. Strange blue lights shine in the skies that summer, and Natasha is taken aback.
