Having read Rachel Donohue's previous book 'The Temple House Vanishing' I really enjoy her unique style of writing. The story is written from the lead character's perspective (Natasha Rothwell) reflecting on past events in her life.
Natasha Rothwell is a well written character. She is trying to understand herself and her place in the world. She is individualistic and has very strong convictions. As the story progressed over the summer I started to find her incredibly annoying and this really let the overall story down for me.
This is a slow burner story which builds and builds as your read on and makes you want to keep going and find out what the blue lights are and whether Natasha really does have a special talent.
I found that the final chapters were disappointing in terms of the outcome. I felt that the ending did not match the intricacy of the rest of the book.
