The Beauty of Impossible Things is around the events that happened in a sea side town in England one summer and is narrated by Natasha, who is now in her mid-forties and telling the story of that summer.

Natasha is different to her peers. She has premonitions and her actions based upon these premonitions has far reaching consequences. It is a subtle and haunting novel; very melancholic and the author cleverly creates a sense of restlessness throughout the story. There is no dramatic page turning action, however I found I could not put the book down until it was finished and I was left thinking about it and the characters long after.

The level of surrealism and atmosphere left me wondering if all that happened really happened or whether it was the reflection of the emotional turmoil in a fifteen-year old’s head. This is a beautifully written book, almost poetic and certainly moving, and one which I think is worth re-reading
