The Beauty of Impossible Things had a very alluring cover that increased my anticipation of the story inside. The central character was very well drawn although she remained a mystery to me throughout the book. I felt the 'coming of age' aspect of Natasha was sensitively and deftly dealt with and I thought the Author handled this aspect of the book with great aplomb. The prose was well written and captured the feel of a seaside town especially as Summer ends and the town begins to closedown as Autumn approaches. Personally I found the book a little slow at times and it left me wanting more detail about the various characters especially the Mother and her history. I liked the air of whimsy that enveloped the book but at times I felt that many ideas and storylines did not come to fruition. I am glad I finished the book as the writing style was easily accessible and at times beautifully written.
