I really loved the premise of this book and the synopsis had me so eager and looking forward to the read, but I was immensely disappointed. The storyline is about the struggle of Syrian refugees and it’s such a relevant topic that I expected the book to be really powerful and moving but I just did not feel that.
I’ll be honest and say that I did not manage to finish the book, I don’t think I even finished the first chapter. It just didn’t catch me. The narration felt confusing and slightly dull. I didn’t quite understand what was happening.
I think given how excited I was to read this book, maybe one day I’ll give it another try because I still find the storyline interesting... but for now, it’s a no from me.
