Considering all the hardships immigrants/refugees have to go through during their journey from a familiar land to a foreign country, the fight to find somewhere they feel like they belong. This book provides a wide reaching view of the challenges and difficulties displaced people go through when they are forced to flee a place that was once a safe haven, both mentally and physically. I believe this is an important read for those who do not understand such a situation or question why anyone would make such a dangerous decision- as it allows us to gain insight and empathy for refugees and the impact that conflict has on the lives of innocent, ordinary people simply trying to survive.
This story took me on a journey , though my opinion of refugees was already one of empathy and understanding, it managedto solidify that stance even further.
