'the beekeeper of Aleppo' is one of the most breathtakingly beautifully written books i have ever read. it is haunting and heartbreaking and yet so enjoyable. Christy Lefteri does an absolutely incredible job of making a fiction story that is so realistic. it is a heartbreakingly realistic rendering of a refugee experience - one that brought tears to my eyes so many times throughout. once you read, you get a glimpse into the horrifying situation of the refugee/asylum crisis that families have been caught up in trying to flee to safety.
i highly recommend this book to anyone even if you do not usually read this genre. the writing was incredible the way it goes from one chapter of retelling to one of present tense was done incredibly well. it was gorgeously written.
it makes you realise how much war affect so many people around the world and that everyone has a story to tell no matter what they look like.
