I am so glad that I had the opportunity to read this book. It is told from the point of view of Nuri, a beekeeper who is forced to leave his home in Syria after the death of his sun. The book jumps around the timeline of Nuri and his wife's, Afra, story: first their life leaving Syria and traveling between refugee camps, then their life trying to gain asylum to live in the United Kingdom.

This book is beautifully written and the transitions between the two time period are seamlessly connected by one word instead of a chapter title. The Christy Lefteri's storytelling skills and writing abilities are extremely evident in this story which is at once devastating and hopeful.

I would recommend this book to anyone: it is a quick read, but the characters and story stick with you long after you have put down the book.
