This is the first of Christy Lefteri’s book I have come across. I’m just humbled to have listened to this audiobook. I’m glad to have listened to it with my husband. It is heartbreaking, hopeful, scary and most of all passionately written. It made me count our blessing, we are so fortunate in so many ways, never having to worry about crossing the borders of countries except “will my children pretend to be an Encanto character when we are in front of the immigration checkpoint”. It is timeless as well, the issues of wars and refugee has been going on as far as I can remember since I was a teenager, which is 15 years ago! It just happens anywhere anytime. Back then I was ignorant and indifferent to the plights of others, thinking what can I do that will make a difference. This book is what I can do! It is a book that I will recommend to all to read.
