Hit me hard
I’m naturally going to start this with a cliche, this is not the type of book I usually read. I’m the sort of person that 90% of the time can be found neck deep in a YA fantasy. But a man has to grow up and this book demanded I did. It’s worlds away from the fantasy I’m used to and something so real felt so nerve wracking. I’ve always struggled to feel empathy towards characters, here I felt too much empathy, although I had nothing in common with them they felt like my friends. They felt like people I would never forget. I am currently rereading the book, this is not something I do frequently, but this book made me want to pick it up again. I couldn’t leave the story behind, I couldn’t shut out these characters, I needed to feel them again. So here I am about a third of the way through read too and feeling just as sorrowful as I did for the first read.
