The book is magnificently set in modern times, our century, explores today's society's issues and problems. The theme of the war in Syria are so well emotionally described that the reader feels pure emphaty, acknowledging the weight of human cruelty.
The characters are many, all from a different background that is well described with simple language, and the two protagonists, Nuri and Afra, allow the reader to comprehend how people that are escaping from conditions of war, poverty, hunger or persecution feel during their journey to get to some safe place.
Furthermore, Nuri and Afra's story demonstrates what refugees meet in their paths to find shelter and food and how corruption manipulates the system.
I really loved the way the book was written! I hope there will be a sequel or a similar story to deepen the knowledge of today's issues.
