I did enjoy this book, but in places found it confusing as it flipped between the 'present', and various parts of the past.
Nuri and his blind wife Afra are refugees who have lost their son Sami in Syria, and are attempting to travel to Britain where Nuri's cousin has already moved. In Aleppo Nuri and his cousin were beekeepers, hence the books title.
For me, the flipping between times and locations was confusing at times, and I found myself flipping back to check what was going on.
The writing style was nicely easy going, and the character of Nuri in particular was well developed.
However, at the end of the book were notes for reading groups and I didn't feel I'd be able to answer many of those without significant rereading.
