I was so pleased to receive my free copy of this book , the fourth in The Days of The Week series . They are all stand alone novels for the benefit of new readers . This features " Wednesday " Carson , better known as Nessie . When her mother is murdered Nessie becomes responsible for her eldest brother , Reuben , younger sister Marcie and little brother Joseph . Reuben has an accident and is no longer able to work . Nessie is fearful that they will not be able to pay the rent to the repugnant Seth Grimshaw . Young Doctor Dorsey comes to the rescue finding the young family a live in job at the local undertakers . Nessie , Reuben and little Joseph move in feeling grateful , but apprehensive about their new roles . Marcie however has her own ideas and takes a job as live in kitchen maid at he local "big" house , but being Marcie she has her own reasons for working there . None of which are sensible .
