This is not my usual sort of book but I found it enjoyable enough but nothing spectacular. It kept me interested from the beginning and the writing style was quite good and or was drawn into the story straightaway. I really liked the main character and how she was trying to keep her family together and survive when times were hard. I liked the two main male characters as well and I thought the romance element was good and it was quite a sweet story. It was also quite faithful too the time in which it was set and the historical details were good
This would be a good book to read around Christmas as its quite a cosy and heart warming story. I probably wouldn't read the other books as its not my kind of genre but if you like sagas then I recommend this.
