I wasn't overly impressed by the cover of this one: it's not awful but neither does it drag me in.
The blurb sounds interesting and yet doesn't give much away.. Which is exactly how I found this sample. I like historical fiction, and I enjoyed the first chapters of this book. I liked the authors writing style, he draws you in but does slowly and meaningfully. Like he does not want to give too much away too soon. I suspect everything will come in a time that has been planned and executed meticulously. I really enjoyed the descriptions and the slow character build up. What I don't know is whether I will enjoy the story as I felt the sample did not give much away. That said based on the writing style and blurb I would be interested to read more.
