I have lived through each of the decades this story covers and the opening chapters have already evoked some very powerful memories! I haven't read any of this author's previous novels but my 'First Look' has convinced me that I'm going to find his writing-style very appealing! His eye for the important nuances of detail immediately made me feel I was sharing the same space as his characters and reflecting on the same concerns. There have been so many seismic changes in the world during this period of history and I feel confident that this novel will cover them, both on a macro and a micro level, so I hope I'll be fortunate enough to win a copy and have my expectations confirmed!
