I really enjoyed this book! The book is easy to get into, and the writing style is engaging, there wasn't a moment where I got bored of reading it.

As you read on, you follow the characters aging, which is makes them more relatable as I think any reader can see pieces of themselves or perhaps a parent or grandparent in the characters, due to the fact it spans across decades and that there is characters from different generations throughout the story. This all includes real-world events, like the cold war and - making to great for anyone who loves a period-drama to read! I enjoyed that the two main characters were from completely different backgrounds, as this meant the same story was seen through two different perspectives without being repetitive, and each character in the two families had their own voice, which was nice.

As you read this book, there is moments of happiness, but more often moments of tension, grief and nostaligia.
