I did not like this book at all. Initially I was looking forward to reading it but unfortunately I got so bored I had to give it up. It got so confusing at one point and I was struggling to keep up with all the different characters. Too much swapping from the present to the past for me to get my head around. It’s a shame because it started off really promising and I just felt let down. Also I’m not a big fan of wartime stories, and despite the book starting off in a garden it quickly became very war related. Maybe if I had stuck it out for a bit longer I might have enjoyed reading it but unfortunately I just couldn’t face it anymore. I’m a big believer of not letting yourself feel guilty if you don’t like a book, it’s how we learn what we like and dislike. This story will suit someone who has got the patience to sit down and work out whose who and what’s going on.
