I really enjoyed this book. I liked how the author presents recent history with a touch of the Moore’s and Carter’s who are two very different families who are drawn together through their fathers friendship. The book has you thinking throughout about things that can affect individuals. I loved this book from the beginning to the end, it’s very well written and I would highly recommend it. The writing is very descriptive it keeps you entranced and the storyline doesn’t get boring. The book is a whopper with 533 pages but that didn’t put me off. The characters are very likeable and I found them easy to follow. I also liked how the book switches in between London to the Carter house and neighbouring farm four hours north of London, in the midlands. I loved the friendship between Carter and Drummond. Carter is highly educated and privileged and Drummond is working class.
