I was intrigued by this book as it says it is a tale of a family over a long time. It is essentially that but slow. I found the pace of the writing to be very slow and I did not like some of the language the author used. I was confused at times as to what was happening and who was who. For example at one point I thought we were reading about Drum but then it insinuated that he had a son with his own mother which confused me. I also didn't get the cover that is on this review. The cover I was sent is bland and not at all suiting to the book. I can see why some people may like this book, if you like the slow steady pace through one person's life then you will enjoy this story as the characters do have depth and I did want to like them. I just wanted a bit more action and a bit less going on about the same thing. Only 3 stars from me and not an author I would repeat in a hurry. :)
