Starting in the late 1950’s at the time of the Cold War this fictional but historical book details chronologically the journey of Britain through the decades. Told through the lives of friends Drummond Moore and James Carter readers are led from major pivotal points including the atomic bomb threat, decimalisation, the Cuban Missile Crisis, Ford car manufacturing, strikes and foot and mouth.

The lives and loves of the men are at the heart of this book which delves into relationships, family life, government policies and politics. For a younger reader it reads like a history book and for readers who lived through some of all of the times a trip down memory lane.

Overall I enjoyed the book. I did not find it an easy read at times but I was compelled to read each chapter and the sub chapters were pacy. Towards its conclusion I could not put it down. I would recommend this book to a reader interested in history, politics and the complexities of relationships.

Thank you to the author, the publisher and Readers First for the opportunity to read and review this book. All opinions are my own.
