I was first interested by the cover of the book; it set a mysterious scene, and I wondered what importance this boat would have.
I was drawn in straight away by the first chapter. It isn't often I come across books with smugglers and I was very keen to learn more about them. I warmed to them particularly being a Yorkshire lass myself, and I enjoyed hearing our own local dialect in the book.
The characters at the party were equally interesting, and so different from those in the first chapter. I am keen to see how these two worlds will collide, and the cliffhanger has just left me with so many questions and wanting more!
