Quiet, observant and powerful
I can already tell that this book is going to be subtle, human and beautiful. Even in the first few chapters, it doesn’t shy away from pain or brokenness, but also highlights the small things that bring us joy, like a smile from a stranger or the sound of a fountain pen on paper. Jo is so hopeful despite the loss of her lover and best friend that you immediately warm to her. I’m already itching to read more of her tale. And as a fan of stories within stories, this book (like its striking cover) has definitely caught my interest!
