I really enjoyed the story of this book, there were a couple of things that didn’t really sit right with me, but I’ll come onto that.
The setting was beautiful, and the stationary shop was described in such a way that you could imagine being there. I thoroughly enjoyed going through this story with Jo who was trying to find her way after a broken down relationship. She found herself in London looking after her uncle’s stationary shop. While looking after the shop she makes friends and new discoveries about herself along the way. The character development was great and I really felt that I knew the people by the end of the book. I found it was very much a page-turner that kept me reading until the very end. It was one of those books that I was sad to finish and wished it could continue.
Regarding the things that didn’t sit right with me was the way the vicar conducted herself along the way. As a Christian myself, I felt that some of the things included were a bit blasphemous, but it depends on your view of things. I know vicars are not perfect, but I feel some of the inappropriate things could have been left out. Nevertheless, I was able to overlook it and to enjoy the story.
