The Book of Beginnings is a lovely story of friendship, self discovery and new beginnings. The book is an easy read and the story is easy to follow.
The story is all from Jo's perspective and throughout the story she makes new friends.
The friends she meets help her work through the things and people she has run away from whilst she helps them similarly in return.
Malcolm is lovely character who's story becomes more complex throughout the book as Jo and Ruth encourage him to open up to them.
There is a lot of self reflection and there are many points throughout the book where the reader can relate to specific events or emotions felt by the different characters even though the book is mostly centred around Jo.
The characters are likeable and the storyline has been well thought through.
This would be the perfect book to read on a chilly autumnal evening or lying in a hammock by the beach.
