I'd like to first thank the team at ReadersFirst and Harper Fiction for sending me a copy to read and review - it is always exciting getting to read new books and try new genres.

The Book Of Beginnings is a book that caught my eye early on on Readers First, the bright cover was very inviting. However, after reading the sneak peek I wasn't overly sold and knew this wasn't a genre for me. So you can imagine my surprise when it landed on my doorstep! Though I wasn't eager to get into the book, once I got going I could not stop.

It follows the story of Jo, who is going through a breakup and has moved to London to manage her uncle's shop whilst he goes into a home. Jo has lost herself entirely due to her break-up and feels lonely, and desperate. She needs to come out of her shell and rebuild who she is. The Book of Beginnings follows Jo and her newfound friends as they bond and grow together, offering a heartwarming and hug-like narrative that is calming and easy to read.

I read this book cover to cover in one sitting, easily, because it was just so enchanting to read. I found myself rooting for Jo endlessly and loved her adventure and the mystery behind each of her customers as they became friends.

Overall, this is definitely not a genre I'd gravitate towards naturally, but I am so glad I gave this book a try. It's definitely the perfect book for a rainy day or when you need something calm and easy-flowing. 3.5 stars!
