I found this story had a lot of the typical elements which seem to be a bit fashionable in writing at the moment. There is the vintage loving female central character, heart broken, with the opportunity to make a new start in a quaint place with a business which just needs a little love to get going. It's a pleasant read, but there's little here which is original. I did enjoy the description of the shop and the little flat above. These are charmingly done. The idea of a stationery shop and the lost art of letter writing is certainly one I hope the novel builds upon. The style is chatty and this is a pleasant read. There are already obstacles for the main character to overcome and it is to be hoped that these are dealt with in some depth through the story. It is to be hoped also that the main character develops further as the story progresses and events unfold.
