I can tell this book would make me cry.
The extract was beautifully written, with the sentences jumping out and me and painting a very evocative picture. The final scene was so tense and emotional even though the language was somewhat detatched. Overall it has built a very intriguing start, and there are a lot of routes it could go down narratively. I would love to follow those threads! There were a couple of sentences which I felt clashed with the rest of the writing, but in the moment of the story these were quickly forgotten.
