I recently discovered Christy Lefteri, having purchased Songbirds at a second-hand bookshop. I was drawn in by two of my favourite authors - Jodi Picoult and Heather Morris - recommending the book on the cover. It doesn't take much for me to be encouraged to read a good book! They weren't wrong - I absolutely loved Songbirds. The emotional and fast-paced writing style was exactly what I was hoping for. I then went on to read The Beekeeper of Aleppo, which was also a stunning page-turner. I expect the majority of readers have read her books in the opposite order but either would be a good introduction to Lefteri. The synopsis of this new novel sounds equally as enthralling, dealing with real-life issues with emotional impact. The fact that it's dealing with a fire in Greece is topical, which I'm certain will add to the emotion of the book. I can't wait to read it soon.
