Just finished turning the last page of "The Book of Fire" by Christy Lefteri and wow - what an emotional journey! This book invites you on a rollercoaster ride through a quaint Greek village that lands in the heart of a heartbreaking inferno.

Imagine the perfect Grecian life - Irini, Tasso and Chara had it all, untainted and serene, until disaster struck, transforming their paradise into ashes. The catastrophic fire left a trail of pain and scars, physical and emotional, while also sparking mysteries that force the reader to question morality itself. The aftermath? Survivors grappling with guilt, loss and secrets - it really tugs on your heartstrings.

I very much enjoyed her previous books, though a little darker than this one. I enjoyed basking in the glow of the lyrical prose, reading unabated, as I delved deep into the lives of Irini, Chara and Tasso. The book had me riding the highs and lows of their experiences, weaving a tale of calamity, hope, and human strength through past and present narratives. It's easy to get lost in the tender and resilient spirit of the characters as they navigate their grief-stricken new world.

The brilliance of this book shines in its duality - it's gut-wrenchingly harsh, yet gently tender. It serves as a stark reminder of our human shortcomings, the forefront message giving a nod to our shared responsibility towards earth. A poignant tribute to the strength of the human spirit and the resilience of nature.
