Very powerful story line following a great tragedy and hardship accompanying in a Greek community. This will definitely be a book that moves you, and I do admit to shedding tears along the way. Despite this there are some sweet moments along the way, with the descriptions of pine trees and olives. It is an important topic to cover in this day and time, as it highlights the effects of global warming and how this impacts us as humans.
Specifically in this book it covers how a great fire has consumed a community and caused devastation throughout, leading people to restart their lives from scratch. We learn of the trauma that families have to deal with and how this affects them mentally and physically, and see this mainly through the eyes of Irini through her memoir.
Christy has written this very well and I cannot wait to read even more of her work. Amazing book, I recommend to everyone.
