I had high expectations for this book, and I was not disappointed! This was a lovely book, with a powerful and moving storyline.
I like how the chapters switch from the present day to the past, to explain the events leading up to the fire, the fire and the aftermath
As the story unfolds we learn about who started the fire and the selfish and greedy reasons why. The results of these actions took many lives, impacted people forever and destroyed the beautiful town. It was beautiful to see how the Greek community came together to help one another after the fire. This book covers a sensitive topic and has been written with empathy. Christy highlights the traumas of the fire very well and makes you think about the current wildfires over the world today, especially the most recent ones in Greece.
