The Book of Fire by Christy Lefteri is a stunning read that tells the story of a family impacted by a wildfire in Greece. The chapters move between the present day and the recent past, and we learn of what has happened and also the true horror of the impact the fire has on this family.
Reading this book made me think of the recent fires across Greece and how much suffering happens afterwards. It’s not something that I’ve thought enough about but this novel definitely made me think of the long term effects.
Moving between the past and present made me want to keep on reading to get to the end to find how things turn out for Irini and her family. The characters were all well written and the descriptive language used was stunning.
I loved Lefteri’s previous books so I had high expectations for this and it didn’t disappoint. I’d really recommend this book to others.
