Christy Lefteri's novel "The Book of Fire" is a beautifully written novel which shows how from absolute devastation hope and new life can be reborn. The first glimpse of the book cover hints at the fiery explosion contained within. Plighted by a horrendous fire, started by mans greed, the lives of a family from England living a simple life in a small and beautiful Greek village are devastated. The family members all carry the scars, albeit in different ways, from this tragedy. The novel seeks to show how such obstacles can be overcome and how, despite terrible losses people can move forward and hope and new lives can be flourish. Leferti uses her magic to weave a web of words which takes us beneath the engaging top story and to explore how feelings flourish at a much deeper level. She is a master of storytelling which haunts you far longer than the length of the novel.
