The Book of Fire is both beautiful and haunting at the same time. Set during the aftermath of a devastating and widespread forest fire in Greece, the story follows Irini and her injured husband and daughter ad they attempt to rebuild their lives.

The impact of the fire - both physically and mentally - is at times brutally explored through the various characters and portrays the true cost of the devastation of this type of event.

Given the fires in Greece this summer, this book is a somewhat timely reminder that when the newspapers stop covering the initial story, there are many people left dealing with the life changing consequences once the fires have finally been put out.

Whilst I was familiar with Christy Lefteri, I hadn't read any of her previous books - so didn't know what to expect with The Book of Fire. However, it's fair to say having read this, I'm now keen to read the others!
