I have read and enjoyed Christy Lefteri's previous books so I was both excited and hopeful when this was released. And I was certainly not disappointed.
Having travelled to Greece both this summer and last, the Greek setting was what first appealed to me and of course, this summer's wildfires made the story line both topical and real, as well as a terrifying reminder of the possible implications. It made me realise how little we know about the effects these wildfires have on families and communities, both in the long and short term.
It was easy to read; alternating timeline chapters made it easy to follow. It was emotional, thought-provoking and with characters you really rooted for.
The book cover was perfect - the powerful colours used representing fire, and the captivating image. All of the author's books have similar, beautiful covers which make ideal gifts.
