The opening chapter sets a really wonderful New Years Eve scene with a loving family and friends. It's funny and pulls you in to the live of Laura really easily. Then bang reality hits! The author gets the scene just right and evokes so many familiar feelings of seeing my friend, about the same age as Laura, go through this. I can only imagine I will cry and laugh through this book.
