This first impression has left me on the fence. On first glance, I thought this book was a memoir so I was surprised to see it listed as contemporary fiction.

The cover stands out but it's a little too bright for my liking. The synopsis is confusing as it seems to contradict itself in places. It states that the main character, Keira, doesn't want to be part of a group of fellow cancer patients but then goes on to say that she joins the Cancer Ladies' Running Club. It's unclear as to whether this was a deliberate or accidental move.

On the whole, the extract seems well-written but the prologue introduces several characters in rapid succession and their roles aren't always clear.
