This really is a super book - it is almost a perfect mixture of friendship, betrayal, bravery and fun all underpinned by a common cause/enemy, cancer.
The main focus of the tale is on Keira. She's got a successful business, happy marriage and three super kids. Add to that her stalwart friends and her life feels close to perfection - until she is diagnosed with breast cancer.
What I love about this book is that it doesn't gloss over this diagnosis. We follow Keira's journey through her treatment, warts and all. We see the effect that cancer has on relationships as well as the more obvious physical ramifications. We hear how people react, how differently they behave.
Meanwhile she makes friends with Tamsin, who encourages her to join her running group. In exercise she finds new friendships with women who are also living with cancer and together they are a formidable force. They prop each other up, keep each other going and face fears together.
It packs plenty of punch but never loses heart. A fabulous read.
