This is a story of a business woman, wife and mother enjoying positive health until the day she discovers that she has breast cancer. It tells the story of her treatment journey and the friends she makes along the way through a running group of other cancer patients/survivors. The books delves into the impact on the main character of her familys responses to her diagnoses and the inevitable changes in her that this brings. It delves into the unwanted pity offered to her, exploitation suffered at the hands of supposed friends and colleagues and her changing views of her own identity.

In this day and age I think we all know someone close to us who has been diagnosed with cancer. This is a book which tackles all of the emotions that go with the subject matter: it doesn't underplay it and recognises how serious and heartbreaking it can be, whilst also keeping it light hearted through the main characters optimism and wry humour. It's not the kind of book I'd normally go for but if you fancy something that's a decent mix of serious but light and really uplifting I highly recommend it. I really enjoyed this read. I wish I could give it 4.5 stars, the only reason it does not get a 5 is for me there were some parts, particularly around her work life, which I found dragged slightly. However despite this I was really impressed with this book.
