Kiera is almost fifty, a mum of three, still best friends with her school friends even though they no longer live close by and has a successful business. Always busy with family and work she has a routine checkup without giving it a second thought but the floor is taken from under her when she's taken to the 'quiet room'.

I read this book in almost one sitting (kept getting interrupted) falling in love with Kiera and her running club friends. I'm not sure I have ever read such an honest and heartfelt account of having breast cancer or the treatment involved and was not surprised to read that the author drew on her own life experiences. It was incredibly moving but not overly sentimental and stereotypical. It gave an insight into how someone with cancer would feel, the reality of chemotherapy and the way relationships around you change. The power of female friendships shines through which I really loved as well. An amazing read that was ultimately uplifting and empowering.
