Thank you so much Readers First and Harper Collins for sending me a copy of The Cancer Ladies’ Running Club in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

This book is fictional, but is based on author Josie Lloyd’s personal experiences with breast cancer. This novel provides an honest and realistic view of everything from diagnosis, through all the doctors and hospital appointments, and what the doctors and hospital say.

Before she was diagnosed with breast cancer, Keira thought she had the perfect life. She had her family, her shop and everything was going well, but then the C bomb drops, which brings a whole new dimension to her world.

Keira gamely tries to continue life as usual, working, running her shop with her partner Laura, but despite all her efforts this feels doomed to failure.

Just as she feels like her world is ending she meets Tamsin and joins The Cancer Ladies Running Club. The four members of the club are Keira, Tamsin, Sian, and Amma. All of whom have their own stories and experiences, but also support each other and in the process become a fantastic unit.

This book provides an insightful view of cancer and particularly breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, but it also truly tugs at the heartstrings. I was in tears at multiple points throughout the story, as it goes through the peaks and troughs of the journey taken by these ladies - and believe me, with one in two people now likely to be diagnosed with cancer, thus is definitely a book you must read!

And the story is great, there are machinations and shenanigans that just add to the story - this isn’t just a cancer story, this is a truly fantastic book that pulled me into Keira’s world and it was a wrench to finish, because I just didn’t want to leave.
