I read this novel relatively recently and thoroughly enjoyed the story. It obviously has sadness, hurt and pain but there is an overwhelming feeling of positivity and building up others around you. Many of the subjects are relatable and the interactions you have with people along your treatment path feel like they are portrayed honestly here. I applaud the author for her ability to portray on a page the small things that go unnoticed by people on the outside. The book is just so brilliantly written you feel like you are part of the gang of runners and you become so entwined in their stories you have real investments in the outcome. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good fiction novel with one foot in true life experiences. There is much to be learned from this book, not least the message of positivity and strength that we all have however deeply hidden.
